Water and Sewer

The Borough of Macungie provides municipal water and sewer service.  The Borough's public water system is served by two wells and is maintained by the Borough's licensed water operators and the maintenance staff, with guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.  The Borough Authority annually distributes a Consumer Confidence Report regarding the Borough's water testing results to all Borough residents.  Water and sewer rates are charged by the Borough on a quarterly basis.

Water Rates:  Effective the first quarter January 2011 the water rates per EDU (equivalent dwelling unit) are as follows:

Meter Rate (based on water reading):

Fixed fee per billing unit

(per quarter)

$33.33

Flow charge fee

(per quarter)

$1.34 per each 1,000 gallons

Example based on quarterly water usage of 10,000 gallons, the bill will be $33.33 (fixed) plus $13.40 (flow charge) totaling $46.73 for water.

Sewer Rates:  Effective the first quarter January 2010 the sewer rates (per billing unit) are as follows:

Meter Rate (based on water reading):

Fixed fee per billing unit

(per quarter)

$36.16

Flow charge fee

(per quarter)

$2.99 per each 1,000 gallons

Example based on quarterly water usage of 10,000 gallons, the bill will be $36.16 (fixed) plus $29.90 (flow charge) totaling $66.06 for sewer.

Billing units located outside Borough limits will be charged the fixed fee plus flow charge based on usage of 200 gallons per day.  A request may be made to install a water meter at the property owner's expense for a more accurate record of water usage.  To make the request, call Borough Hall at 610-966-2503.
