Permit Information

 

    Construction Permits      Other Borough Permits

 

   On July 6, 2004, Macungie Borough Council adopted the Uniform Construction Code, Act No. 45 of 1999 and the amendments. The Uniform Construction Code applies to the construction, alteration, repair, movement, equipment, removal, demotion, location, maintenance, occupancy or change of occupancy of every building or structure which occurs on or after April 9, 2004 and all existing structures that are not legally occupied.

The following Construction permits are now required:

Building Permit Application (pdf)is required to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a commercial or residential building, structure or facility regulated by the Uniform Construction Code. Permits are also required to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical, plumbing system regulated by the Uniform Construction Code.   Plot Plan (pdf) must be included.

Change of Use or Occupancy - when changing uses or adding units to a dwelling as a Home Occupation or for a Commercial Use (Forms may be completed online, printed and sent to Borough Hall)

Curb and Sidewalk Permit Application (pdf)- when replacing or installing curb and/or sidewalk.  Curb and Sidewalk Specs (Form may be completed online, printed and mailed to Borough Hall)

Demolition Permit Application- when demolishing a structure. (Form may be completed online, printed and mailed to Borough Hall)  Demolition Guidelines

Electrical Permit Application (pdf) is required to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical system regulated by the Uniform Construction Code.

Fence Questionnaire (pdf) must be submitted with the Zoning Application when installing or replacing a fence.  (Form may be completed online, printed and mailed to Borough Hall)

HVAC Permit Application (pdf) is required to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any mechanical system regulated by the Uniform Construction Code.

Plot Plan (pdf) must be submitted with each building or zoning permit along with plot plan of entire property.

Plumbing - required when adding new or moving existing fixtures.

Pool Permit Application (pdf) is required to erect or replace all swimming pools greater than 24" in depth.  Click for information on fees and zoning requirements

Shed Questionnaire (pdf) must be submitted with the Zoning Application when installing or replacing a shed. (Form may be completed online, printed and mailed to Borough Hall)

Street Opening Permit (pdf) is required when cutting into a Borough street for curb work. (Form may be completed online, printed and mailed to Borough Hall)

Zoning Permit Application (pdf) - for certain sheds and garages less than 1000 sq. ft., fences under 6' in height, decks less than 30" above grade, patios, signs and driveways.  Plot Plan (pdf) must be included.

Banner Permit (pdf) - For installation of an event banner across Main Street (Rt. 100)

Fireworks (pdf)- required for all fireworks displays within the Borough

Garage/Yard Sale Permit (pdf) - Only 4 yard sale permits, per household, per year are permitted.  The permit cost is $5.00 for one day or $10.00 for 3 days.

Moving (pdf) - All residents moving In, out or within the Borough are required to complete this form.

Transient Retail Permit (pdf) - Transient Retail Permits (Soliciting Permits) cost $10.00 per person/day or $25.00/person/week; each person in the group needs their own permit.
