OTHER AREAS THAT CAN AFFECT THE STORMWATER POLLUTION

Swimming Pools

Follow these simple steps to prevent stormwater pollution:

bullet

Make sure all chemicals are dissipated before draining a pool or spa

bullet

Do not drain pools within 5 day of adding chemicals

bullet

Never backwash a filter into the street or stormdrain

bullet

Cleanup chemical spills with absorbent, don't wash it down the drain

bullet

Dispose of leftover chemicals and paints through a licensed hazardous waste disposal provider

Pet Waste can be a major source of bacteria and excess nutrients in local waters.

When walking your pet, remember to pick up the waste and dispose of it properly.  Flushing pet waste is the best disposal method.  Leaving pet waste on the ground increases public health risks by allowing harmful bacteria and nutrients to wash into eventually into local water bodies.  See poster.
